Digital support for people in need of care and their relatives
Digital care applications are digital tools designed to assist people in need of care, family carers or staff working in care services. They can help maintain independence by enabling the person in need of care to take an active role in managing their own health. They also help to make care and support provided by relatives easier.
Digital care applications can include, for example, services for leisure activities, memory training or fall prevention, or applications used for communication with family members or care services. Digital care applications can be smartphone apps, web-based applications or PC programs. For some selected digital care applications, supplementary support services are available from home care services to assist with using them.

What costs does SBK cover?
We contribute up to €53 per month towards the costs of digital care applications and supplementary support services. You must cover any costs exceeding this amount yourself.
Example: Your chosen digital care application costs €35 per month. This leaves €18, which you can use for supplementary support services from a care service or another digital care application.
How to find a suitable digital care application:
There are currently no approved digital care applications on the market, as the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) is currently assessing which services can be approved.
