Care support allowance
Financial support for family carers
The care support allowance is an income replacement benefit that you receive if you are unable to go to work because you are caring for a family member. We continue to pay part of your gross salary. The condition is that you are caring for a family member who is insured with SBK. This allows you to focus fully on organising the care.
What are the eligibility criteria for the care support allowance?
How much is the care support allowance?
The care support allowance amounts to 90% of the lost net pay. One-off payments such as holiday pay or a Christmas bonus can increase the care support allowance to up to 100%. The care support allowance amounts to a maximum of €135.63 per calendar day for the year 2026 (2025: €128.63).
We deduct your contributions to health, pension and unemployment insurance before paying out the care support allowance and transfer them, together with the SBK’s contribution shares, to the relevant insurance provider.
