Pregnancy Plus: up to €300 budget for additional services during pregnancy
With our Pregnancy Plus Budget, you can claim up to €300 for additional services. This is how we promote health for you as a pregnant woman and for you as a family beyond regular prenatal care. You can find out which services you can use your budget for below.
Your bonus: additional medical services
We want you to receive the best possible care during your pregnancy and feel safe. If you wish, you can therefore take advantage of the following additional examinations as part of your Pregnancy Plus budget:
This test shows whether the pregnant woman has contracted toxoplasmosis and could therefore infect her unborn baby. Toxoplasmosis is an infectious disease caused by parasites. It is considered harmless for adults, but in unborn babies, toxoplasmosis pathogens can cause developmental damage and even miscarriage.
Infection usually occurs through contact with cats or through food, such as raw meat or unwashed fruit and vegetables. The toxoplasmosis test determines whether the pregnant woman has already developed antibodies against the infectious disease. This antibody test is usually carried out by a laboratory on behalf of your gynecologist's office.
This test shows whether the pregnant woman has been infected with cytomegalovirus. Symptoms rarely occur during the initial infection, which means that the disease often goes unnoticed. However, if the immune system is weakened, the infection manifests itself through symptoms of a cold or flu-like infection.
In healthy people, the body produces antibodies and remains immune for life. During pregnancy, however, the pathogens can be transmitted to the unborn child via the umbilical cord. This can lead to miscarriage or damage to the child.
The B-streptococcus test reveals whether there is an infection with B-streptococcus. B-streptococcus colonizes the vagina and intestines. This means that the pregnant woman can transmit the bacteria to her child during birth. Therefore, it is advisable to perform the test shortly before birth so that antibiotic therapy can be administered to the pregnant woman. This treatment is still possible even a few hours before birth. If the child shows signs of infection, antibiotics can also be given to the newborn.
Erythema infectiosum and chickenpox are typical childhood diseases. Infection should be avoided during pregnancy if possible, as the baby cannot yet produce its own antibodies. Erythema infectiosum and chickenpox are caused by viruses and are transmitted from person to person via droplet infection. Therefore, most people in Germany already have antibodies against these viruses.
Your bonus: prescribed medications
During pregnancy, iodine, folic acid, magnesium, and iron are among the most important nutrients and minerals for mother and child. Therefore, we will reimburse these four pharmacy-only medicines from the Pregnancy Plus budget upon request.
Important for reimbursement:
Your bonus: prenatal classes
You can use part of your €300 budget, for example, to pay for someone to accompany you to antenatal classes with a contracted midwife.
Your bonus: Midwife on call
Your midwife will be there for you personally at the moment of birth. Arrange a midwife on-call service with her from the 37th week of pregnancy. This means your midwife will be available around the clock during the crucial phase and you can rely on individual care during the birth. We will cover the costs of an approved contract midwife of your choice within the €300 budget.
