MedPlus Type 2 Diabetes Program
The disease management program for type 2 diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder that causes sugar to accumulate in the blood. It is also called “adult-onset diabetes” because it often only appears later in life. The body’s cells gradually absorb and use insulin less effectively. Type 2 diabetes is far more common than type 1, with about 90 percent of people with diabetes affected by type 2.
