Medical aids help you cope with everyday life, recover more quickly, or compensate for a health condition. These include, for example, hearing aids, wheelchairs, or orthopedic insoles.

These standards apply both to the materials and technology of the aids as well as to all related services – for example, emergency availability and particularly fast delivery times.

Medical aids - your benefits

You have access to a wide range of high-quality medical aids.

You receive necessary accessories, repairs, or replacements quickly and directly from our contractual partners.

You receive comprehensive advice on choosing the right aid, tailored to your individual needs and living environment.

Statutory co-payments, fixed allowances, and optional premium services

All insured persons aged 18 and over pay a statutory co-payment of 10% of the sales price per aid, but at least €5 and no more than €10.

For consumable medical aids (e.g. incontinence products), a monthly co-payment of 10% applies, limited to €10.

Medical aids required during pregnancy are exempt from co-payments – this also includes breast pumps, which may be needed for newborns.

Some medical aids are considered general items of daily use, which are also used by healthy individuals. In such cases, you pay a personal contribution. For example, with orthopedic shoes, you pay for the shoe itself, while only the orthopedic modification is covered as the medical aid. This personal contribution is paid directly to the supplier.

If you wish to include additional comfort or premium features for your medical aid, the extra costs must be covered by you. Please consult your supplier for detailed information.

Does your doctor consider it necessary for you to receive a medical aid? In this case, you will receive a prescription. Incidentally, this prescription may also be issued by the attending physician at the hospital or rehabilitation clinic.

You select a contractual partner who offers the appropriate medical device. With the help of our online search, you can easily find a qualified medical device provider in your area and find out about your medical device, the costs, and the procurement process.

Note: The medical aid contract partner search and product information are provided by GWQ ServicePlus AG, Ria-Thiele-Straße 2a, 40549 Düsseldorf. When you use the medical aid contract partner search and product information, your IP address is transmitted to GWQ ServicePlus AG for technical reasons. However, GWQ ServicePlus AG does not store your IP address; it is deleted immediately.

Some medical aids can be obtained directly on site, while others require prior approval from us. The required cost estimate is always prepared for you by the medical aid provider as soon as you give them the prescription.

Once we have approved your application, you will receive the appropriate aid from our contractual partner.

Some aids, such as devices for sleep therapy (CPAP devices), can only be used after instruction on how to use them correctly. Other aids, such as wheelchairs, orthotic devices, hearing aids, or shoe inserts, are customized to the individual.

If it is necessary to repair, modify, replace, or inspect your medical device, simply contact the device supplier directly. They will then arrange for the costs to be covered directly with us.

On a voluntary basis, some service providers send you a feedback link. Using this link, you can rate the service provided online.

Reimbursement of electricity costs

We reimburse you for the electricity costs of certain larger electrically operated medical aids. These include oxygen concentrators, ventilators, CPAP devices and electric wheelchairs.
