Preventive health treatment

A stationary or outpatient preventive treatment helps you regain strength in case of persistent complaints or long-term stress. This can help prevent illness. In addition, preventive treatment also provides support in everyday life, for example with relaxation techniques.

After successful review, SBK will cover the full cost of inpatient preventive treatment. You will only be responsible for the statutory co-payment of €10 per day. Inpatient preventive treatment usually lasts three weeks.

If you have opted for outpatient preventive treatment, also known as a spa treatment, SBK will cover the costs of medical treatment and remedies and will also provide a daily allowance of €16 for your accommodation, meals, and spa tax. This is subject to your treatment lasting at least 21 days. Spa treatments are only available at recognized spa resorts in Germany or selected countries in Europe. You can find these resorts in the spa calendar:

First of all, the following requirements apply: You have already exhausted all options in your place of residence, such as various remedies (e.g., physiotherapy, fango), a health course, or nutritional counseling. These measures have not been successful, and you have not undergone inpatient preventive treatment in the last four years or spa treatment in the last three years.

If you meet these requirements, please contact your doctor's office. Together with you, they will decide whether and when preventive treatment is appropriate for you and whether it should be carried out on an outpatient basis at your place of residence or on an inpatient basis at a suitable preventive care facility.

If you receive a medical recommendation for a preventive treatment, your personal SBK consultant will be happy to send you the appropriate application forms. You fill these out together with your doctor and send them directly to SBK.
