Breast cancer screening with Discovering Hands
Additional clinical breast examination performed by blind and visually impaired women
The medical breast examination with Discovering Hands is an early detection examination for women with a family-related or medically increased risk of breast cancer. In these cases, a particularly thorough examination that goes beyond the usual scope of breast cancer early detection is often medically recommended.
Clinical breast examination performed by blind and visually impaired women
The examination is carried out by specially trained blind or visually impaired Medical Tactile Examiners (MTE) and, if a risk is present, can be used once per calendar year without age restriction. The advantage is that Medical Tactile Examiners can detect even the smallest tissue changes of less than 1 cm. Early detection improves the chances of recovery and enables more gentle treatment methods. If the Medical Tactile Examiner identifies any findings, the exact location allows the doctor to clarify the abnormality.
The medical breast examination with Discovering Hands complements the annual specialist clinical breast examination to which customers aged 30 and over are entitled as part of statutory screening.
