Invitation programme for cervical cancer screening
For all women between the ages of 20 and 65
In accordance with the decision of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), the highest decision-making body for statutory health insurance in Germany, all health insurance companies are obliged to invite their insurants to regular cervical cancer screening. All information about the invitation programme can be found on this page.
Invitation to all women between the ages of 20 and 65
We invite all female SBK insurants aged 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65 to a cervical cancer screening. The aim of inviting eligible women is to further increase the participating rate in statutory early detection. Only through early detection can tissue changes be detected and treated at an early stage.
The invitation will provide you with information about the cervical cancer screening services you are eligible for based on your age. Along with the invitation letter, you will also receive a brochure with information about cervical cancer, the examination procedure (Pap smear and HPV test), the significance of the examination results and information about the advantages and disadvantages of cervical cancer screening.
You can view the brochures on the website of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) here (in German only):
How the cervical cancer screening invitation programme works:
You don’t need to do anything to receive an invitation to cervical cancer screening from SBK. If you are aged between 20 and 65, you will automatically receive an invitation letter and brochure with information from us by post every five years.
Don’t want to participate? If you have received an invitation and no longer wish to receive invitations from us, you can opt out of receiving further invitations. Even if you opt out, you can still take advantage of the statutory cervical cancer preventative check-ups free of charge. To declare your objection, please send us the completed PDF form by email to
