Healthy teeth are important to all of us. We naturally cover the costs of necessary dental treatment, dentures, and orthodontics as part of standard care. Depending on the dental care you receive, you only pay a co-payment. However, we are not permitted to cover the costs of dental treatment that goes beyond standard care. With private supplementary dental insurance, however, you can significantly reduce your co-payment and thus protect yourself financially.

Why is private supplementary dental insurance worthwhile?
The scope of services covered by statutory health insurance is determined by law. This means that SBK benefits for dental treatment and orthodontics are bound by the legally prescribed framework.
In the case of dental prostheses, only the costs covered by the so-called fixed subsidies may be reimbursed. In many cases, you will have to pay the costs yourself. It is good to have private supplementary insurance. Depending on the tariff, supplementary dental insurance covers the agreed amount of your co-payment.
In figures, this means that SBK covers 50% to 65% of the average costs for standard care. The amount depends on proof of regular preventive care, which the dentist confirms in your dental bonus booklet. Without supplementary insurance, this means that you will have to pay at least 35% of the total costs for dental prostheses. Implants and other high-quality dental treatments incur significantly higher costs and co-payments.

With the SBK Dent90 plan, you can reduce costs even further and cover all standard dental treatments. This includes professional teeth cleaning twice a year, full coverage for standard dental treatments (e.g., fillings), and high reimbursement for dentures or inlays. Also included: comprehensive orthodontic services for children and, in the event of an accident, for adults as well.
For peace of mind at the dentist: SBK Dent 90+ protection with that little bit extra. With professional teeth cleaning twice a year, high reimbursement for dental prostheses, up to 90% even without a dental bonus booklet. Even higher benefits for orthodontics and coverage of pain-relieving measures during dental treatment round off the service package:
Would you like to be fully covered for dental treatment and even cosmetic dental services? Then the SBK Dent100 premium plan is just right for you. You receive up to €120 twice a year for professional teeth cleaning, you benefit from 100% reimbursement for dental prostheses, and you receive a subsidy for teeth whitening procedures.
With the SBK Zahn extra plan, you will be reimbursed for 50% of the cost of dental treatment. With SBK benefits, you can even be reimbursed for up to 90% of the treatment. Even with a low monthly premium, you can ensure reliable protection for your teeth. Your children up to the age of 15 benefit from particularly low premiums with the SBK Zahn extra tariff. The longer you use the tariff, the higher the range of benefits you receive.
This tariff does not cover the additional costs of orthodontic treatment that are billed privately. Would you like to have financial coverage for these costs as well? Then we recommend the SBK Familie extra plus plan as the perfect complement to the SBK Zahn extra plan. If SBK pays for orthodontic treatment for your children, this plan covers 80% of the additional costs (up to a maximum of €1,000), for example for clear braces.
With all supplementary dental plans, you can significantly reduce your share of the costs for professional teeth cleaning. Compared to other supplementary plans, all of the plans mentioned cover every tooth that needs to be replaced. There is no limit on the number of teeth.

What are the benefit limits for supplemental dental insurance?
The longer you use the plan, the higher the benefits. With SBK Dent plans, the benefit limit (amounts in brackets) is halved if you have indicated in the health questionnaire that dental treatment is necessary or intended, or has already been advised, recommended, or started by a dentist. The costs of such treatment are then not covered by the plan.
