You can choose from four different rates:
What is the difference between the S and L tariffs?
With the S rates, you pay a low premium when you are young because these rates do not include so-called age provisions. (Age provisions are savings for old age. They are formed by a higher initial premium and are used for health services in later years.) With these rates, the premiums are then adjusted on your 31st birthday. On your 45th birthday, the S tariff is then automatically converted to the respective L tariff – without any new risk assessment or waiting periods.
With the L tariffs with old-age provisions, the premiums increase on your 16th and 21st birthdays. There are then no further premium increases due to age.
The S rate is particularly advantageous for young people. They can benefit from the additional services even with a low premium.
Why is private supplementary insurance for hospital care particularly worthwhile for young people?
With both rates, you receive extra benefits for families at particularly low premiums: If you are insured under this rate as a mother, you will receive a family room during childbirth. (In the twin room rates, reimbursement is equal to the cost of accommodation in a twin room.)
You also receive rooming-in for children up to the age of 12 if they are insured under this tariff. You pay the low premium if you opt for the S tariffs. There is no age provision with these tariffs.
