Additional outpatient insurance
Additional coverage for alternative medicine treatments, eyeglasses, and contact lenses
With SBK, you can rest assured that you will receive the best possible treatment to get you back on your feet quickly. SBK also has you covered when it comes to alternative treatment methods. Here you will find a range of services that goes far beyond the statutory requirements. However, not all natural healing methods are covered. If you decide to seek treatment from a naturopath, you will usually have to bear the costs yourself. Glasses and contact lenses are generally only subsidized for children. Therefore, protect yourself against high additional costs for alternative practitioners and visual aids with exclusive supplementary insurance from our cooperation partner ARAG for outpatient services.
This is what supplementary outpatient insurance covers
With the outpatient supplementary cover provided by our partner ARAG, you are well covered for treatment costs incurred by alternative practitioners. Depending on your tariff, you will also be reimbursed for the cost of glasses and contact lenses. Medical repatriation from abroad, including by emergency jet, is included. The costs of medically necessary treatment abroad are also covered.
The SBK outpatient extra tariff is the right choice for you if you occasionally visit alternative practitioners and want a solid subsidy for visual aids. Co-payments for remedies and aids are now a thing of the past.
Choose the SBK outpatient extra plus tariff if you visit alternative practitioners regularly and want a higher subsidy for glasses and contact lenses. You will also receive remedies such as fango or massages and aids without additional payments.
Online rate conclusion will be available again soon. You can find the rates with SBK discount

Why is supplementary insurance for outpatient services worthwhile?
Our partner ARAG's supplementary outpatient insurance covers the agreed amount of the costs for alternative practitioners and visual aids, as well as other costs for outpatient services.
The scope of benefits covered by statutory health insurance (GKV) is determined by law. For some services, you will have to pay a co-payment yourself, for example for medication, bandages, remedies, and medical aids, or for treatment by a naturopath. Private supplementary insurance reduces this co-payment by the agreed amount, depending on the tariff.
