Are you planning a trip abroad and wondering what health insurance coverage you need? In this case, it is important to know that health insurance benefits are legally limited in other European countries and do not offer worldwide coverage. We therefore recommend that you take out additional international health insurance before you travel.
Worldwide insurance coverage with ERGO's international travel insurance
The benefits provided by statutory health insurance funds are limited in other European countries and do not offer worldwide coverage. This means that, depending on the country, we may not be able to reimburse you for the costs incurred, either in full or in part. For example, we are generally not permitted to cover the costs of repatriation.
We therefore recommend that you take out additional insurance before you travel, for example with our partner ERGO Krankenversicherung AG. This will give you worldwide insurance coverage for trips abroad of up to 10 weeks. If you are abroad for longer than 10 weeks, we recommend a special international rate for longer insurance coverage. It is best to compare different providers, for example via comparison portals, before making a decision.

Note: Children are covered by the family plan until they reach the age of 25.
Tip: For couples under the age of 64 without children, two individual plans are cheaper than the family plan.

Request reimbursement:
You initially pay the bill for your medical treatment abroad yourself. To receive reimbursement, simply submit a photo or scan of your bill digitally via the ERGO website.
