Unemployed persons
If you receive unemployment benefit or citizen's income, you do not pay health insurance contributions.
Are you receiving unemployment benefits or citizen's income from the Federal Employment Agency or a job centre? During this time, you will automatically remain insured under the statutory health and long-term care insurance schemes. You can continue to claim all benefits as usual. The Employment Agency or Job Centre will pay your contributions for you. This also applies if you are not receiving unemployment benefits due to a waiting period but have registered with the Employment Agency.
