Answers about switching health insurance
We’ve compiled useful tips and information about switching health insurers here for you:
Yes. You can only switch health insurers after 12 months of membership with your old provider, and you have to observe a notice period of two full calendar months.
For example, if you wish to become an SBK member on 1 July, you must submit your membership application to us by no later than 30 April.
If your old health insurer is imposing or increasing the additional contribution rate, you have a special right of termination regardless of the duration of your membership. The notice period of two full calendar months applies in this case as well.
Any time you switch employers, you have the opportunity to choose SBK as your new health insurer within two weeks of starting employment that is subject to statutory insurance coverage. This is also the case if your status changes – if your insurance cover changes from family insurance to student insurance, for example. The notice period of two months does not apply in these cases.
