This card unlocks it all: with it you can access all services – from doctors, recognised therapists and hospitals. The health care card has an encrypted chip with all important data such as first name and surname, gender, date of birth, address and insurance number.
To ensure that your electronic health care card is better protected against misuse, customers over the age of 15 receive a card with a photo. Insured persons who cannot submit a photo for health reasons receive a card without a photo. This might be, for example, someone who is unable to care for themselves and not mobile. The Braille lettering helps those who are blind or visually impaired.
Integrated European Health Insurance Card
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for use abroad is integrated on the back of the electronic health care card. The EHIC is valid in the following countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Cyprus (southern part).
