How the switch works

We recommend that you switch to your SBK Account in the Meine SBK app.

  • Open the Meine SBK app (iOS, Android) and click Register.
    Alternatively, open the web version
  • Click on Create account.
  • Use your stored biometrics (face ID or fingerprint) to login.
If you do not use biometrics, click on ‘No’ and then enter your password manually.
  • Accept the declaration of consent and the terms of use.
  • Set your password for the SBK Account.
  • Enter the email address you want to use for your SBK Account.
If your email address is different from the email address previously stored for Meine SBK, you will receive an email with a confirmation link to your new email address.
  • Your SBK Account has been created. You can use some of the online services without displaying your sensitive (health) data.
  • To use all online services, continue with device registration and one-time identification in the Meine SBK app
It is no longer possible to register a PC or laptop device. You can of course continue to use protected services in the web version meine.sbk.org. To do this, you need a mobile device (smartphone or tablet) registered for the Meine SBK app. You will then receive the usual security enquiries on this mobile device.

You can find more information here.
  • Frequently asked questions about switching to an SBK Account

You can find the answers here.

It goes without saying that the outstanding Meine SBK app meets all security standards. In particular, two-factor authentication (2FA) ensures that only you have access to your personal data. On a regular basis, we also commission teams of external IT specialists to review and confirm the app’s data security.

If you have previously used the web version of Meine SBK with a registered PC or laptop, you can continue to do so.

You can choose between two options: web version with the Meine SBK app or without the Meine SBK app.

We recommend the option with the Meine SBK app. This allows you to retain two-factor authentication – with one difference: up to now, you have done this using a computer program, but now you can do it via the Meine SBK app on a smartphone or tablet. You will then receive the usual security enquiries.

The code loses its validity when the SBK Account is introduced. From this point onwards, device registration codes will no longer be sent out by post.

When you switch to an SBK Account, you can register your device by assigning an app code. You will also need to prove your identity. The easiest way to do this is digitally from home – with your ID, activated online function and the corresponding PIN. Device registration is a prerequisite for 2FA, with which all online services can be used.

You can find more information here.

You can achieve 2FA by entering your password when logging in (first factor) and by entering the app code (second factor). Of course, you can use an external password manager to assist you in entering your password. Entering the app code can be replaced by biometrics such as fingerprint or face ID.

Switching to your new SBK Account begins by entering your previous Meine SBK password or logging in using biometrics. You will then set a password for the new SBK Account and be guided through the change process step by step.

If you forget your Meine SBK password, you will need to re-register to create your SBK Account. You have three attempts to enter the password correctly, after which you are blocked for one hour. The “Forgot password” function is only possible if you have already switched to the SBK Account. You automatically create your SBK Account with the new registration. To be able to use all online services, a one-time identification is required.

    More information here

You can of course continue to use Meine SBK at meine.sbk.org in combination with the Meine SBK app and your registered device (smartphone or tablet). As soon as you access the web version of a 2FA-protected online service, you automatically receive a push notification from the Meine SBK app to your mobile device. Follow the instructions and, in a few seconds, you will be able to continue comfortably in the web version.

Yes, you can continue to install and use the Meine SBK app on a tablet. However, for technical reasons, one-time identification using an online ID and PIN is not possible with a tablet. You can then choose other identification means: get an activation code from an SBK branch, get Postident from a post office branch, or use your SBK healthcare card and the corresponding PIN to identify yourself.

You can use Meine SBK in a mobile browser at any time. To use protected services, you need a registered mobile device, preferably your smartphone. Then you simply confirm an access request in the Meine SBK app and can continue in the mobile browser.

You can find more information here.

An improved encryption procedure for Meine SBK passwords was introduced in a version update at the end of June 2023. The old passwords have been deleted. For technical reasons, switching to an SBK Account is only possible if a new password has been set.

A common reason is that you have not saved the new password for biometric login. Please enter your password manually.

Everything you need to know about your SBK Account

Instead of a lot of login details, an SBK Account gives you universal access to the digital services Meine SBK, SBK electronic health record and E-Rezept app. This makes it particularly easy for you to use. Of course, you still decide for yourself whether to use the digital services, and which ones.

Extra tip: do you already know the simplest way to identify yourself from home?

If you forget the app code for your SBK Account and this makes it necessary to register and identify your device again, you will be able to identify yourself digitally in future using your online ID and the corresponding PIN. This saves you the trip to a post office or branch.

The online ID will soon be a part of everyday life wherever your sensitive personal data is involved – even outside the healthcare system. Use it, for example, to open a bank account online.

You can find more information about the online ID and its possible applications here.
