FOCUS MONEY: Top health insurance for students 2025

SBK comes out on top for students

FOCUS MONEY has teamed up with the Deutsche Finanz-Service Institut (DFSI – German Financial Service Institute) to honour the best health insurance companies for students.

For the fith time in a row, SBK has been ranked among the listed German health insurers open to the public. In the latest test, SBK came in seventh place and was awarded the title ‘Top health insurance provider for students’.

To determine the best health insurance companies for students, DFSI analyzed data from a total of 69 health insurance companies. This came from the portal www.gesetzlichekrankenkassen.de, which regularly collects performance data from all health insurance companies. Of the 69 health insurance companies, however, only 47 were willing to answer the separate DFSI questionnaire on student-specific additional offers that DFSI sent to all competitors.

The test evaluated the following categories: service, additional services, selective tariffs, personalised health care services, benefits related to overseas stays, alternative/complementary medicine and bonus schemes.
