One contribution to cover the whole family
With SBK family insurance, your family members are covered by health and nursing care insurance at no additional cost. And just like you, they enjoy all the benefits of SBK. This applies to all family members with a regular monthly income of € 505 or less.
The generally applicable contribution rate for statutory health insurance is currently 14.6 %, which is split equally between the employer and the employee. The additional contribution for SBK is currently 3.8 % - also split half and ald between employer and employee.

FAQ about insurance cover for families
Children are generally insured free of charge: this is true for statutory family insurance in many cases. Basically parents can decide for themselves whether their offspring are covered by family insurance under the father or the mother. It therefore does not matter whether the parents are married. There are exceptions whereby children cannot be insured free of charge. We’ll be happy to advise you on this matter.
Medical examinations after the birth of the baby are generally covered by the mother’s health insurance. We are very pleased that your family has grown and wish to welcome your little one to our large SBK family. Inclusion in family insurance is very easy: once you have received the birth certificate, simply contact your SBK consultant and we will take care of the rest for you and your baby.
Yes, you can switch even when you are pregnant – it’s very easy once the usual 18-month period of commitment for your old health insurer has elapsed. And the notice period is also just a short wait. It is just two months starting at the end of the month.
