FAQ about insurance cover for students
Students with an income of up to €565 per month are usually covered by family insurance. Students with a higher income or aged 25 or over must take out their own health insurance.
During your studies, you will generally remain covered by your family's insurance until your 25th birthday. The prerequisite for this is that your monthly income does not exceed €565. If you are performing basic military service or voluntary service, your parents' contribution-free health insurance can be extended by up to 12 months. We will be happy to advise you on this so that we can find the right solution for you.
From this point on, you must take out your own health insurance. In this case, student health insurance is the cheapest option for you until the end of the semester in which you turn 30. For students who insure themselves, the contributions are €155.78. We will be happy to advise you and find a package tailored to your individual needs.
